I meant to write this post a couple of weeks ago but time just got the better of me! I was given a trail camera for my birthday and I was so excited to put it out overnight. I’m determined to find a new visitor to our garden, or something I wouldn’t have expected to see here… a small part of me is hoping for a hedgehog or pine martin or badger, but I know our location isn’t ideal for those!
Anyway the first night I put it out at the bottom of the steps in our backyard. The steps go down to an outbuilding – where we currently have Swallows nesting – and we know there are rats around. It’s also next to an area that has been left wild and provides plenty of cover for birds & mammals alike.
So, we put a tree stump at the bottom of the steps & added a bit of seed and peanut butter just to see… The following morning I was like a kid at Christmas rushing out to get the camera & download the images π
As you’ll see from the following images, nothing came during the night, however we did get a few early evening & morning visitors…
I tried again the following night & managed to get the farmyard cat… I don’t think it was a lynx π
I will keep putting out the camera at different times and in different locations just to see what is out there… I might even try it in the field to see if I can catch sight of a fox! I really am like a child in a sweet shop π
