daffodil

I spent last week visiting my Mum in the UK to celebrate her 70th birthday. After almost 3 years of living in our little farmers cottage surrounded by fields, I’d forgotten what it’s like to live back on a housing estate with a garden overlooked by at least 4 houses! There’s nothing wrong with that, and it’s great for some people… but just not me!

It was lovely seeing my Mum and everything but I couldn’t wait to get back to my little piece of countryside… and peace & quiet… where we only have the cows for neighbours πŸ™‚

Hello πŸ™‚

So, once I was back home I spent as much time as I could re-acquainting myself with my views that I cherish and the birds that come to feed every day.

Awww did you miss me?

The first thing I noticed was the number of Swallows flying around the house… they always make me smile as it means Spring has well & truly arrived! We’ve had Swallows and Housemartins nesting in the barns at the back of us each year we’ve been here.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the Housemartins will be nesting in their usual spot this year – at the gable end of our cottage – as the House Sparrows have taken over the nest.

The Housemartins haven’t returned yet but it’s only a matter of time before they come back to find their nest has squatters in it!

I’ve heard the weather is supposed to be a lot warmer for Easter weekend. I hope so as we’re planning on starting the wildflower plot at the side of the house… if we get the seeds delivered in time that is!
